Clinics & Services
The practice has an integrated team of nurses. They provide a wide range of care. They also play a leading role in the management of chronic diseases.
Travel Immunisations & Other Injections
The practice is not a Yellow Fever vaccination centre but offers a full range of injections and advice for travel. Please contact the surgery at least 6 weeks before travelling as some injections consist of courses of 3 individual jabs. There are charges for some travel vaccinations.
At the beginning of October each year we have a campaign of influenza vaccination aimed primarily at those aged 65 and over, diabetics, asthmatics and the chronically ill.
Chronic Disease management
All patients with diabetes, coronary heart disease, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hypertension are encouraged to see our practice nurses for their review appointments, monitoring and supervision of treatment.
Patients are offered a New Patient health check on joining the practice.
Minor Surgery & Joint Injections
The doctors offer a number of small procedures that can be carried out at the surgery including cryotherapy for warts and verrucas. Dr Reubin & Dr Visavadia are able carry out joint injections. Please see your GP who will discuss whether this is appropriate and refer you accordingly.
Have you been thinking about stopping smoking for a while?
A regular smoker’s chance of getting lung cancer is 40 times that of a non-smoker.
The chance of dying from coronary heart disease is more than doubled in smokers and tripled in heavy smokers.
The risk goes up 8-fold in smokers with other risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Using the stop smoking service is the most effective way to quit. You will benefit from expert advice about ways to manage cravings and choosing the best medication for you. You are up to four times more likely to quit using this service. Please contact the surgery to make an appointment or for more information.
Your doctor can make referrals to this service.
All the doctors provide shared antenatal care with the Midwife.
All women are offered a smear every 3 years routinely between 25-49 years of age, and every 5 years between the ages of 50-64. Our nurses have received special training for this purpose. If you have not had a smear in the last 3/5 years, see your GP or make an appointment with the nurse. Women who have had a hysterectomy do not need this test.
Family Planning Clinic & Chlamydia Screening
All the doctors provide contraceptive advice as appropriate within their normal appointments. Dr Virdee is able to fit coils and implants. Please discuss this with your usual GP who will refer you to see her for a consultation.
Chlamydia screening tests are now available from the Surgery, for anyone under 25. Please contact reception for a Chlamydia Testing Pack which contains a urine sample bottle and form that you need to fill and send (freepost) Your results will be sent to you in your preferred from of communication directly. Speak to the nurse for further information.
Child Health Immunisations
We encourage all childhood immunisations to be done in the surgery. Reminders will be sent to you from the Child Health Department.
