Named Accountable GP

All patients that register at Cassio Surgery will be given a Named Accountable GP who will take lead responsibility for their care. You will be informed when you register who that is.

WHAT TO DO WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED

   

 Below is a list of services available in this area, when to use them and how to access them.

 Attending the Accident and Emergency Department is not always the most appropriate or quickest way of receiving medical attention when the surgery is closed.

A lot of illnesses can be treated in your home using over the counter medicine and getting plenty of rest

Unwell, unsure, confused, need help?

NHS Direct

Call NHS Direct - 111 You will speak to a trained healthcare professional

Diarrhoea, runny nose, painful cough, headache

Pharmacies

Your local pharmacy can give you advice

Vomiting, ear pain, sore tummy, back ache

If the surgery is closed please ring Herts Urgent Care – 111.Your call will be answered by a trained Health care Professional.

 

Burns, scalds, bites, stings, cuts, strains, sprains

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (111) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
